Session summary

With the death of Willem Van Heyne, Ostend was left without a leader yet again. The Senechal, Eldwin Falckeneauge, had called for a meeting in the Public Library of Ostend to discuss the future of the Domain. Many kindred were present and even a few new faces could be seen amongst them.

The arrival of Lucien Maupassant, Primogen of the clan Tremere, accompanied by an almost completely cloaked Tremere named Malcolm Fields, startled the Kindred who were already present. Mr. Maupassant was very unpleased about the recent events in the Domain and blamed everyone present for not seeing the signs and not reacting to them in time, carefully omitting the fact that the Baali who had caused everything was a long time respected member of his Clan. He demanded an explanation from every Clanhead but did not seem pleased with their replies. After a long bollocking he dismissed the clan heads and let them resume the meeting.

Rumours were already spreading that there were 2 candidates to claim praxis. Sergeï Zhivanevsko, the Childe of the deceased Prince and Jozef Boddaert, the Senechal of the Domain of Mechelen. It came as a great surprise to many when Sergeï at a given time entered the platform and hesitantly, as if not completely convinced by his own words, announced that he would support Mr. Boddaert in his attempt to become Prince of Ostend. Shock could be seen on different faces in the public, as some of the present Kindred had already made deals concerning Sergei’s claiming praxis. Immediately after this announcement, Mr. Boddaert entered the platform and proclaimed himself Prince of Ostend. After his declaration however, all hell broke loose. All kindred began speaking at the same time and Sergeï, having left the room after his announcement suddenly barged back in, accusing Senechal Falckeauge of meddling with his head.

Discussions kept going on when suddenly they were interrupted by the Keeper of Elysium of Mechelen, Jelena, who had received a phone call from Prince Maximiliaan of Mechelen. He had been informed about the betrayal of his Senechal and let him know he was no longer welcome on the Domain of Mechelen. At that moment Mr. Maupassant intervened. He demanded silence and asked every Clanhead which one of the candidates they would support. When it became clear that the Clanheads could not agree he lost his temper as in his eyes none of the two candidates were worthy of the position and appointed his Clan member Mr. Falckeneauge as new Prince. The Kindred, not having the nerve to discuss the furious Elder’s decision, reluctantly agreed and the new Prince, who did not wanted to waste any time, started assembling his court.

The rest of the evening was fairly uneventful as most Kindred were busy discussing what had happened or were making deals concerning the new Court. Only one event disrupted the rest of the meeting briefly. One of Miss Jelena’s ghouls suddenly hit the Nosferatu Desmond in the face, without an apparent reason. Since this could be very bad for the astonished Jelena’s reputation, the Nosferatu and her sat together to establish why the otherwise obedient ghoul would do such a thing. After an interrogation between Master and Ghoul, it became clear that someone had tampered with his mind. Jelena accused Jozef Boddaert of doing this in revenge for what had happened with the Prince of Mechelen. Of course, the Ventrue denied doing such a thing and since it could not be proven either, the matter was closed but not forgotten.

At the end of the evening the new Prince introduced his Court to the other Kindred:
